This video just makes my day. I can't stop laughing for some reason... does that make me a bad person?

I love my life
When I grow up I hope to be as positive as this kid. We can all learn a little something from her.

Take Me Back NOW.

I just returned from Sasquatch and...
wow.
take me back. Imagine sitting on a hill, watching the sun go down slowly behind water and hilly terrain and your favorite band's music echoing throughout the canyon. I remember turning to my friend Liz and saying, "I feel like i'm looking at a screensaver...". The view was seriously like a dream.
My favorite performances were Passion Pit, The XX, Kid Cudi and MGMT.
Speaking of MGMT...did you know the lead singer, Andrew VanWyngarden, was so dreaaammyyy?? EVERY girl in the crowd was going "holy crap he is sexy...". Take a looksies

I can't even imagine the adrenalin rush the bands must get while looking out into the sea of hippies covering every inch of the hill and dancing like free spirits to their music (and in "free spirits" i mean most people were most likely high or drunk). Every band on the main stage had a moment where they paused, looked out at the crowd and just smiled. They probably were thinking to themselves... "wow, how did I make it here...this is surreal". It was surreal for them, but it was absolutely surreal for me.
Camping was also crucial for the full sasquatch/ music festival experience. Dirty, drunken, shower never and party always group of youth having one massive sleep over- You can see how messy that can get. Everyone is open to make friends with anyone... no exclusions. The porta-potties were pretty nasty but at least they were named something quite endearing: 'Honey Buckets". How cute.
Despite being very last minute, our trip went very smooth... hardly any bumps... at least before Mandie lost her car keys (aka our ride home) while crowd surfing... but that's another story all together.
If you have never been to Sasquatch... GO. You will not regret a single thing.

SASQUATCH
I've been waiting a whole year to go to Sasquatch Music Fest at the Gorge Ampitheater. The lineup this year is unreal... but I was so worried this month about finding a job that I never got around to buying tickets. Then this morning, after much procrastination (my specialty) I realized I didn't have work for the next couple days and could POSSIBLY find a way to go for Sunday and Monday. Craigslist stalking and Facebook status-ing later, I got myself 3 sets of 2 day passes.... UHH-MAAA-ZIINNGGG. It was a major trek to get them all ... I actually saw some places around Vancouver that I never knew existed... sad I know. I also didn't get kidnapped, robbed or murdered during my Craigslist meetups so I'm pretty happy about that.
I'm going with my two besties liz and mandie. Its going to be good... really, really good. Nothing is better than a beer, some beats and being un-showered.
AND look at the view.

P.S. Kid Cudie will most likely propose to me this weekend. No biggie.

"What should i do?"
This doofus pretends to be a yoyo master on television ...and when he can't actually yoyo..he whispers, "what should i do??" as if his MIKE doesn't work. What a tool. Entertaining nonetheless! enjoy.

Tastespotting
This BLOG is the most brilliant thing ever created on the www. Its a visual collection of people's recipes and reviews from everywhere! Amazing? You can create an account and add "favorites" to the recipes you might want to try out later. You can find almost ANY recipe on this site... and even if you don't "cook" it's a visual utopia... mmmmmmm. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. I just have the photos sans descriptions but make sure you check out the website for the food descriptions (makes it sooo much better while staring at the images). I'm droooling.

ba ba beaaats
Mike Posner. Singer songwriter and music producer from Michigan. Apparently he's doing an ivey league/ american tour because I heard about him from my friends at Yale and Claremont McKenna. Once you hook the nerds you got them all right? (JOKES! please don't kill me). I don't know if I really like his voice...but he has some good beats.
Local Natives
I was missing bizzy lizzy so I decided to check out what she was up to at MUCH Music... sooooo being the creeper friend that I am I stalked her blog and she said "listen to local natives" so i did. And I like... A LOT. I bought the CD. Thanks liz! Great tunes for the summer. Check out her blog HERE

Crude
When will we learn to stop killing our earth? When will we learn that if we keep exploiting the earth we will HAVE NO earth to live on at all? As Anderson Cooper once said (yes, I'm obsessed with him), "none of what is happening [to the earth] is occurring in a vacuum... all the problems are interconnected"; Pollution is a factor of global warming. Global warming is melting our ice caps. The ice caps are drowning islands and displacing civilizations... I could go on...
I wish we were all a little less ignorant... but it is so hard to not be when we live in a city and are so far from nature. We don't directly or immediately see the long term effects of what we are really doing to the earth. The smallest things make the biggest difference. For instance, when I see a water bottle in the garbage can, I can't help but take it out of the garbage and place it in a recycling. I know its not much, but I feel like I helped...just a little? I mean... why did someone put the water bottle in the GARBAGE in the first place? Don't we learn in kindergarten NOT to do that?
I don't even know why i'm asking...we all know the reason for this is LAZINESS. Here's an idea... why don't we stop being LAZY for once? Maybe it will save the earth.
Many times when we exploit resources, we also exploit and affect the indigenous people living on the land... and usually the indigenous people just deal and don't have much say.
Finally I encountered a current story where the unheard are being heard. A group of indigenous people in the Ecuadorian Amazon are standing up for their rights; They are suing Chevron for 27 billion dollars (which in my opinion is NOT ENOUGH at all). Texaco -which is now owned by Chevron- did NOT clean up after digging and extracting from numerous oil wells in the Ecuadorian Amazon- in fact, they just left them there- hundreds of pits of disgusting crude oil, seeping into the rivers and drinking wells. As a result, locals have been bathing, drinking, cooking with toxic water and have also been getting very sick from it. Below is a trailer of the film "crude".
Here is the 60 minutes clip better explaining the situation:
Task for the week: Do something good for the environment- maybe take a water bottle out of the trash? ;)
